Pitch Aircraft Seating Systems has been developing a light weight economy seat in conjunction with Intier Automotive, a global tier 1 automotive manufacturer owned by Magna.

The seat is aimed at the single aisle short haul retrofit market and has a fixed recline backrest moulded from light weight composite materials. The seat weighs in at under 25kg for a standard triple and has a modular backrest assembly allowing airlines to customise the product.

In January 2012 Pitch successfully passed an indicative 16g dynamic test and is on target to complete the certification plan by the third quarter of 2012. Sophisticated computer analysis has been employed to optimise the structure to ensure certification test success.

Pitch Chairman, Ken Baker OBE, says

"Passing this test is a momentous occasion for Pitch and reaffirms that we are on the right track with our computer simulations and certification plan. Following huge interest at last year's Aircraft Interiors Show we have seen serious interest in our seat from a number of airlines and believe we have a winning product and approach to this marketplace".

Pitch intends to manufacture the seat in the UK at a state of the art manufacturing plant in the West Midlands. By adopting automotive manufacturing processes it is anticipated that lead times from placement of order to delivery will be in the region of 12 weeks. The seat will be available for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Pitch Aircraft Seating systems will be exhibiting at the 2012 Aircraft Interiors Exhibition on stand 5G50, Hall B5 (next to door 3). For further information or if you wish to make an appointment at the show please contact:
