PITCH Aircraft Seating secures a line fit contract with the Ukrainian Antonov company at the Aircraft Interiors Exhibition in Hamburg. Pitch will supply the light weight PF3000 seat to Antonov for line fit on their An-148/158 family of aircraft at their manufacturing facility in the Ukraine. The efficient design of the PF3000 allows Antonov to increase the seating capacity of the AN-158 aircraft to 102 PAX and save weight.
Mr Oleksandr Donets, president of the Antonov company commented, “Today we made a new step towards the modernisation of our passenger regional jets of AN-1X8 family keeping high comfort for the passengers and improving the aircraft characteristics.”
Pitch Aircraft Seating has secured a contract with SAAL, a subsidiary of International Aircraft Leasing Holdings (IALH), to retrofit the Antonov 158 for two different airlines in the South American market.
Ralf-Dieter Montag-Girmes, president of the SAAL company commented, “This partnership allows us to modernize the interior of the Antonov 148/158 cabin for our clients in Latin America. The Pitch brand has a reputation for innovation and design with its highly durable efficient fixed back seat.”
Pitch director, Gary Doy, presents the finer details behind testing the PF3000 seat at the IQPC (Innovative Aircraft Seating) in Hamburg this month. The PF3000 seat is certified to the latest 16g (C127b) specification allowing it to be fitted to the new generation of narrow body aircraft.
Passengers can be very creative when flying economy seats and at Pitch we go out of our way to test for the unexpected. On one flight three passengers found a way to “upgrade” from economy to “lay flat” by using the tray tables of the Pitch seat as bed!
Tray tables come in for heavy use. We aim to find the best balance between weight at strength! How many aircraft seats can you stand on like this?
Pitch were delighted to support the launch of the National Transport Design Centre in Coventry with a demonstration of our new PF3000 fixed back economy seat. It was a great evening with some refreshing speakers who share a passion for good design. Pitch Director, Gary Doy, commented “It’s a privilege to be involved with the NTDC and I am sure the new facility will play a valuable role bringing industry and students closer together. We are committed to support innovation and creativity in the Midlands and forging strong links with our local universities. We need to push the boundaries and develop new ideas for our future transportation needs by cultivating the talent we have in our universities. I am very excited by the opportunity to bring the next generation of great minds into the Aviation Industry”.
